lightconnector.RefertotheWarninglocatedinthe
Tractor-TrailerConnectionsinformation.Usea
three-pointstancewhenconnectinganddisconnecting
trailer.
7.Inspectfth-wheeljawstobesuretheyhaveclosedon
trailerkingpinandthetrailerplateisrestingsecurelyon
thefthwheel.
8.Besurethecouplerreleaseleverisinthelocked
position.
9.Chargetrailerbrakesystem.Settrailerbrakes,either
withthehandvalveortractorprotectionvalve.Pull
againsttrailerforanadditionalcheckofhook-up.Donot
pullhardenoughtodamageorstraintheequipment.
10.Settractorparkingbrakesandfullyraisetrailerlanding
gear.RefertoBrakessegmentofthissectionfor
OperationofParkingBrakesandTrailerBrakes.
11.Checkoperationofalltrailerlightsandcorrectfaulty
lights.

2.Applytractorandtrailerparkingbrakes.
3.Lowertrailerlandinggear,makingsureitisonsolid,
levelground.Theweightoftrailermustbeonlanding
gear.
4.Blocktrailerwheels.
5.Disconnectbrakehosesandlightcords.Besurehoses
andcordsareclear.
6.Pullcouplerreleaselevertodisengagefthwheeljaws.
7.Releasetractorparkingbrakes.
8.Pulloutfromtrailerslowly,allowinglandinggeartotake
loadgradually.
FifthWheelJawUnlockControl

inthecaballowstheoperatortounlockthefthwheel
jawfrominsidethevehicle.Therearetwoavailable
versionsforthesystem,withmonitoringorwithout
monitoring.Theversionwithmonitoringcapabilities
includesadditionalindicatorstoshowthedriverfth
wheeljawstatus.
NOTE:FifthWheelJawUnlockisonlyoperationalwhen
vehicleisstationary,parkingbrakeisset,andignition
switchisintheRUNposition.
