Whenreconnectingthebatterycables,connect
thepositivecablesrst,andthenreconnectthe
negativecables.Failuretofollowthiswarning
mayresultinadirectbatteryshortwhichisare
orexplosionhazard.
CAUTION
Topreventdamagetoelectricalcomponents
duringelectricweldingoperations,followthese
cautions:Priortoelectricwelding,disconnect
anynegativeandpositivebatterycablesthat
connectthebatteriestothevehicle.Besure
thedetachedconnectorsarenottouching
thevehicle.Ifweldingclosetoanelectronic
component,temporarilyremovethatcomponent.
Attachtheweldergroundcableascloseas
possibletothepartbeingwelded.
Whenservicingyourvehicle,always:
1.Turnofftheignitionswitch,unlesstheprocedurecallsfora
runningengine.
2.Settheparkingbrakeandinstallwheelchocks.
3.Usesupportstands,notajack,wheneveryoumustbeunder
araisedvehicle.
4.Donotsmoke.
5.Wearsafetyglassesforeyeprotection.
6.Operateengineonlyinawell-ventilatedarea.
7.Donotworkonbrakesorclutchunlessproperprecautions
aretakentoavoidinhalingfrictionmaterialdust.
8.Donotwearlooseclothing,hangingjewelry,watches,or
rings.Tieuplonghairandavoidrotatingmachinery.
9.Avoidcontactwithhotmetalparts;allowhotcomponentsto
coolbeforeworkingonthem.
