4.WheelandLugNuts:Checkfordamagedorbentwheel.
Checktoseethatalllugnutsarepresentandnotloose
(lookforrusttrailsaroundnuts).Ensurethatnocracks
ordamagearepresentatwheelmountholes.
5.Tire:Checktreaddepth,tireinationandnoteiftread
isevenlyworn.Minimumtreaddepthis4/32inchon
steeringtires.Lookforcutsorotherdamagetothetread
orsidewalls.Seeifvalvecapsandstemsaremissing,
brokenordamaged.
6.Hub:Checkforobviousleaksonoutsideorinsideof
wheel.Verifycorrectoillevelinhub.
7.SteeringLinkage:Inspectconnectinglinks,arms,and
rodsforworn,damaged,loose,ormissingcomponents.
8.BrakeChamberandHoses:Checktoseethatthe
brakechambersarenotcrackedordamaged,andare
securelymounted.Checkforbroken,looseormissing
parts.Checkforcracked,wornorfrayedhoses,andfor
securecouplings.
9.SlackAdjuster:Checkslackadjusterandchamberpush
rodtravel.Whenpulledbyhand,pushrodshouldnot
movemorethanapproximately1inch.Anglebetween
pushrodandadjusterarmshouldbeapproximately90
degreeswhenbrakesareapplied.
10.BrakeLiningandDrum:Withbrakesreleased,check
toseethatbrakelinings(wherevisible)arenot
wornexcessivelythin[lessthan1/4inch(6mm)]or
contaminatedbylubricant.
11.Frame:Checkforcracksorbendsinframe.Makesure
therearenoloose,cracked,bent,brokenormissing
crossmembersorcrossmemberfasteners.
