12.Install the sector gear (16T) onto the shift drum shaft.

Install the shift shaft assembly and sector gear (11T)

into the bushing pocket on the left side. Align the

timing marks on the gears as shown.

13.Install the detent star onto the shift drum shaft. Be

sure to install the detent star with the raised edge

facing outward and skip-tooth aligned.

14.Install the detent pawl onto the shift shaft and

carefully install the compression spring. Install the o-

ring onto the shift shaft.

15.Apply a small amount of white lithium grease on the

shift shafts

and component contact surfaces prior

to installing the sector cover.

16.Clean the transmission and gear sector cover mating

surfaces thoroughly.

17.Apply Crankcase Sealant (3-Bond) (PN 2871557)

onto the cover and transmission case mating surface.

18.Install the sector cover and align the transmission

case dowel with the alignment hole. Install and torque

the screws to specification.

TORQUE

Sector Gear Cover Screws:

12 ft-lb (16 Nm)

19.Install the transmission drain plug and torque to

specification.

TORQUE

Fill / Drain Plug:

14 ft-lbs (19 Nm)

20.Install the bellcrank onto the shift shaft. Note the key

splined on the bellcrank and shift shaft. Install the nut

and torque to specification.

TORQUE

Bell Crank Nut:

18 ft-lb (24 Nm)
