4.12.3 SELECTING PARITY MODE
To display and change the current parity mode, proceed as follows:
1. Use the GROUP switch to display the SIO group.
2. Press down on the SET/NEXT switch to display PAR.
3. Press up once on the SET/NEXT switch. The display now shows Spac, which is the first of
four available parity modes.
4. Press down on the SET/NEXT switch additional times to see the other available modes.
The other available modes are Mark, Even, and Odd. If parity mode is sent to
Space, then every parity bit is set to zero. If parity mode is set to Mark, then every
parity bit is set to one. If parity mode is set to Odd or Even then parity bits will be
set to create odd or even parity for each data byte.
The green part of the ON/OFF indicator lights when the current parity setting is
being displayed. If any other parity setting is displayed, the red part of the
ON/OFF indicator lights.
5. To change the current parity setting, advance the display to the desired setting and press up
twice on the SET/NEXT switch.
After the first press, the green part of the ON/OFF indicator flashes, meaning that
a change is about to be made. After the second press, the green part lights
continuously, showing that the parity setting has been changed to the displayed
value.
The fifth function in the PAR subgroup is exit. When the exit function is displayed, you can press up
on the SET/NEXT switch to leave the PAR subgroup and display Lock, the next SIO function. To exit
the SIO group, press up or down on the GROUP switch.
