TESTING
After the RFL DA-91I module has been configured and installed, it should be tested for proper
operation before it is put into service. At present, the only test necessary to verify RFL DA-91I
performance is the loop test. This test is performed when the channel module is installed to verify
operational performance in either a terminal or drop/insert configuration.
TEST EQUIPMENT REQUIRED
1. Asynchronous Bit Error Rate Test Set with RS-232 interface with Request to Send (RTS)
control signal capability.
2. IMUX 2000 Multiplexer.
3. Patch cord terminated in bantam jacks (2 required).
LOOP TEST PROCEDURE FOR RFL DA-91I MODULES
INSTALLED IN TERMINAL MULTIPLEXERS
The following procedure is used to test RFL DA-91I modules installed in IMUX 2000 terminal
multiplexers.
1. Open the door on the front of the IMUX 2000 multiplexer.
2. Connect a patch cord between the EQUIP-T1-OUT and EQUIP-T1-IN jacks on the front of the
IMUX 2000 chassis. The jacks are located on the Common Module.
3. With power applied to the IMUX 2000, check the indicators on the front of the power supply
module.
The POWER indicator should be lit.
4. Check the CH1 Transmit and CH1 Receive activity LEDs on the front panel of the DA-91I
module. See Figure 2 and Table 1 for locations.
Both activity LEDs should NOT be lit.
5. Connect the BIT Error Test Set to the CH1 RS-232 connector on the cable assembly connected
to the Module Adapter for the RFL DA-91I module under test.
At this point, the equipment should be connected as shown in Figure 4.
6. At the test set, apply power and initialize the Request To Send (RTS) signal, and set its output
to any data rate up to 4.8 kbps for dual or up to 9.6 kbps for single. Check the CH1 Transmit
and CH1 Receive activity LEDs on the front of the RFL DS-91I.
Both activity LEDs should be ON or flashing.
Check the RLSD LEDs. They should be ON according to the mode of operation to
indicate the reception of the signaling bits.
7. Check the error count on the receive side of the test set.
The error count should be zero.
8. In dual mode repeat the tests for the second channel.
The results should be the same.
