RFL DS-562NC RFL Electronics Inc.
July 5, 2012 6 (973)
334-3100
8. On the DS-562NC check the setting of toggle switch SW12.
SW12 controls the loopbacks, up to enable equipment loopback, down to enable
payload loopback, or center for no loopback. Set SW12 to the center position.
9. On the DS-562NC check the setting of DIP switch SW1-1 through SW1-6.
SW1-1 through SW1-6 control the modules SCB address. Set the switches to achieve
the desired SCB address setting as shown in Table 8.
10. On the DS-562NC check the setting of DIP switch SW2-1 through SW2-5.
SW2-1 through SW2-5 control the modules transmit and receive timeslot starting
position. Set the switches to achieve the desired timeslot setting as shown in Table 9.
Table 9 also indicates the maximum number of timeslots available for each starting
timeslot for T1 and E1 systems.
11. On the DS-562NC check the setting of DIP switch SW2-6.
SW2-6 selects the DS-562NC transmit bus direction. OFF (UP) selects transmit on B,
receive on A (for drop and insert B), ON (DOWN) selects transmit of A, receive on B
(drop and insert A or terminal end). Set the switch to the desired setting.
12. On the DS-562NC check the setting of DIP switch SW2-7.
SW2-7 selects CAS. Place in the ON (DOWN) position ONLY if the DS-562NC is to
be used in an E1 system with CAS (Channel Associated Signaling) ENABLED on the
CM-4 module, otherwise it must be placed in the OFF (UP) position. For T1, this
switch must be placed in the OFF (UP) position.
13. On the DS-562NC check the setting of DIP switch SW3-1 through SW3-5.
SW3-1 through SW3-5 controls the modules N-BAUD setting, which sets the data-
rate, and effectively the number of timeslots that the module will use; up to 24 for T1,
and up to 31 for E1 (30 maximum if CAS is used). Set the switches to achieve the
desired data-rate as shown in Table 10. The maximum setting is also subject to
limitations imposed by the starting timeslot setting previously made with SW2-1
through SW2-5. This setting must be set to “1” for G.703 (MA-407I and MA-408I),
and RFL Short Haul Fiber (MA-600). Up to a maximum of “12” time slots can be set
for the C37.94 Short-haul Fiber (MA-620/621).
14. On the DS-562NC check the setting of DIP switch SW3-6.
SW3-6 sets the data rate. OFF (UP) selects 64 Kbps, ON (DOWN) selects 56 Kbps.
Set the switch to the desired setting; note, this setting must be set to 64 Kbps for
G.703 (MA-407I and MA-408I), RFL Short Haul Fiber (MA-600), and C37.94 Short-
haul Fiber (MA-620/621).
15. On the DS-562NC check the setting of DIP switch SW3-7.
SW3-7 sets the DS-562NC for local or remote control. ON (DOWN) places the DS-
562NC in remote mode (settings obtained from the SCB), OFF (UP) sets the module
for local mode (settings obtained from the DIP switches). Initially, set the switch to
the OFF (UP) position for local control.
