TESTING
When the RFL DS-TT modules have been configured and installed, they should be tested for proper
operation before they are placed in service.
EQUIPMENT REQUIRED
A serial terminal capable of accessing the IMUX 2000.
A source of keying voltage equal to the keying voltage to be used in service.
An indicator capable of detecting operation of the trip outputs.
TEST PROCEDURE
Once the module has been installed in an operating IMUX 2000 system, the disable switch can be
placed in the enable position. The connections to any trip outputs should be disconnected before
proceeding with this test.
The status values of the DS-TT should indicate that the module is not in CRC or Address alarm and
that the ping pong value is less than the alarm limit.
The alarm LED on the front panel should be off.
When a keying voltage is applied to any input, the appropriate LEDs on the local and remote units
should illuminate. The trip output contacts should close.
If the appropriate LEDs and trip outputs respond as expected, the module is ready to put into service.
TROUBLESHOOTING
If the module remains in CRC alarm, the disable switch, timeslot and direction settings should be
verified. Equipment and line loopbacks can be used to determine if the modules work when looped
back on themselves. If the modules work in Equipment loopback but not in Line loopback, then
something in the IMUX network is preventing the data from reaching the other terminal.
If the module does not have a CRC alarm, but does have an Address alarm, the address settings on
both modules should be verified.
If the module does not have CRC or Address alarms but still lights the alarm LED, then the ping pong
test is failing.
If the alarms are inactive but the trip LEDs do not activate, the programming should be checked and
the location of the module adapter jumpers should be verified.
If the output LEDs light but the trip outputs do not close, the position of the solid state/relay jumper
should be verified. The status of the service on/off setting should also be verified.
