SEL Communications Protocols

The SEL Fast Message Synchrophasor protocol is covered in Section 7:
Synchrophasors.
Recommended Use of Relay Self-Description Messages for Automatic
Configuration
Compressed ASCII and Fast Message commands provide information to
allow an external computer-based device to adapt to the special messages for
each relay. The SEL Communications Processors use the self-description
messages to configure a database and name the elements in the database.
Tab le 5.8 lists commands and command usage in the recommended order of
execution for automatic configuration.
