Description
With this command, you configure the details of an SNMP user.
Requirement
You are in the Global configuration mode.
The command prompt is as follows:
cli(config)#
Syntax
Call up the command with the following parameters:
snmp user <UserName> [auth {md5|sha} <passwd> [priv DES <passwd>]]
[{volatile|nonvolatile}]
The parameters have the following meaning:
Parameter Description Range of values / note
UserName Name of the user max. 32 characters
auth Specifies that authentication takes
place and which algorithm is used
● md5 (Message Digest 5)
● sha (Secure Hash Algorithm)
Default: No authentication
passwd Password for authentication max. 32 characters
If you enter user passwords for
SNMPv3 via the CLI, you cannot
enter any special characters.
When using the WBM you can en‐
ter special characters in user pass‐
words for SNMPv3.
priv DES Specifies that there is encryption. -
Default: No encryption
