5. OPERATION FOR TESTS
3 Check if the patient has heterophoria.
Click the [H/V] button on the control window. You can change the check procedures for
horizontal phoria and vertical phoria.
When checking horizontal phoria, the horizontal Maddox rod lens is set to the right eye
and the dot light source is seen as a vertical line by the right eye.
If the patient does not have a horizontal phoria, the luminous point of the dot light source
that is seen by the left eye is on the vertical line that is seen by the right eye. If the
patient has horizontal phoria, the luminous point of the dot light source that is seen by
the left eye is separated from the line seen by the right eye.
When checking vertical phoria, the vertical Maddox rod lens is set to the left eye and the
dot light is seen as a horizontal line by the left eye.
If the patient does not have vertical phoria, the luminous point of the dot light source that
is seen by the right eye is on the horizontal line that is seen by the left eye. If the patient
has vertical phoria, the luminous point of the dot light source that is seen by the right eye
is separated from the line seen by the left eye.
4 Measure the horizontal phoria value.
If the patient has horizontal phoria, measure its value.
If the mouse operation mode is not set to "Horizontal prism", click the [H/V] button on to
change the mode.
Ask the patient which side of the luminous point of the dot light exists, at the right or left
of the line.
When the dot light is at the right of the line, click the left mouse button for the mouse
navigation until the dot light and line overlap each other.
When the dot light is at the left of the line, click the right mouse button for the mouse
navigation until the dot light source and line overlap each other.
5 Measure the vertical phoria value.
If the patient has vertical phoria, measure its degree.
Click the [H/V] button to change the mouse operation mode to "Vertical prism".
Ask the patient which side the luminous point of the dot light exists, above or under the
line.
When the dot light source is under the line, click the left mouse button for the mouse
navigation until the dot light and line overlap each other.
When the dot light source is above the line, click the right mouse button for the mouse
navigation until the dot light and line overlap each other.
