DIMENSIONING - LIMITS CALL SERVER : VOICE ON IP
Ed. 042/8 Réf. 3EH 21000 BSAA
The number of DSP channels (VoIP ports) required depends on the system configuration and the VoIP
services to be implemented.
The main situations are as follows:
- H.323 gateway only
The number of DSP channels is equal to the number of IP network accesses required, in accordance
with the IP trunk abacus above.
Nota : The desired number of DSP channels can be limited by the bandwidth reserved for VoIP ac-
cesses. E.g. if the reserved bandwidth is 64 Kbps, only 2 calls can be made simultaneously;
the number of VoIP accesses can thus be limited to 2 channels.
In the case of PC-to-PC or IP Phone-to-PC communications using H323 PCs, the number of
IP trunks is as defined by the abacus + 30 % of the number of PCs; for instance, you need
to add 6 IP trunks in order to use 20 NetMeeting PCs.
- IP Telephony only
The number of DSP channels needed is indicated in the following paragraph.
- Conventional telephony (UA / DECT / Z, etc.) and IP Telephony
The number of DSP channels needed is indicated in the following paragraph.
- H.323 gateway and IP Telephony
