GENERAL PRESENTATION
INTRODUCTION
Alcatel OmniPCX Office is a voice/data convergence product intended for small and medium-sized
enterprises.. Alcatel OmniPCX Office can be administered locally or remotely and can be integrated
into any LAN on a single site or a multiple site. Given its overall communication range, Alcatel Omni-
PCX Office offers an Internet access solution, and can be used to manage the following elements:
-the LAN.
- client terminals (PC) that can be used to access Internet resources.
- remote client terminals that can access the LAN via the VPN.
Alcatel OmniPCX Office does not required any special software for the Internet access installation, but
it can only be integrated into a TCP/IP environment . The range of services proposed for Internet
access are configured by means of an Internet navigator (Netscape Navigator, Internet Explorer...).
The administration tools and the integrated software programs are used to configure the network pa-
rameters (IP addresses, masks, domain names and DNS, routing tables...) corresponding to the ins-
talled hardware.
In this section, we shall deal in turn with the connections, the proposed service offers in terms of Internet
access and LAN services, along with the associated hardware configurations.
CONNECTIONS
The LAN and Internet connections are required for the installation of Alcatel OmniPCX Office Internet
access.
LAN connection
this is provided by a Base-T 10/100 Base Ethernet (RJ45) or by an internal switch installed in the Alcatel
OmniPCX Office cabinet.

rised bandwidth varies between 64 Kbps and 128 Kbps.
