Case 2 : A MESSAGING SERVER EXISTS ALREADY ON THE LAN
If the company is connected to the Internet via Alcatel OmniPCX Office, it is used as the gateway
between the LAN and the Internet for the exchange of messages. The firewall allows use of the SMTP
protocol when sending and receiving (see security chapter).
Important : The type of connection can be "permanent", "on demand" or "on demand with callback".
Alcatel OmniPCX Office's IP address can be static or dynamic.
Case 3 : THE MESSAGING SERVER IS HOSTED ON THE IAP.
There is no messaging server in the company. The messaging server is hosted by the IAP.
Alcatel OmniPCX Office is used as the gateway between LAN and Internet. The firewall allows use of
the SMTP, POP3 and IMAP4 protocols (see security chapter).
If the connection to the IAP is on demand, a connection will be established whenever a message is sent
and whenever the mail box is consulted.
