RS232
An Electronic Industries Association (EIA) serial digital interface standard specifying the characteristics of the com mu-
nication path between two devices using either D-SUB 9 pins or D-SUB 25 pins connectors. This standard is used for
relatively short-range communications and do es no t specify balanced control lines. RS-232 is a se rial control standard
with a s et number of cond uctors, data rate, word length and type of connector to b e use d. T he standard specifies com -
ponent connection standards with regard to computer interface. It is also called RS-232-C, which is the third version
of the RS -232 standard, and is functionally identical to the CCITT V.24 standard. Logical ’0’ is > + 3V, Logical ’1’ is < -
3V. The range between -3V and +3V is the transition zone.

DVI
Digital Visual Interface is a display interface developed in
response to the proliferation of digital flat panel displays.
The digital video conn ectivity standard that was developed by DDWG (Digital Display Work Group). This connection
standard offers two different connectors: one with 24 pins that handles digital video signals only, and one with 29 pins
that hand les both digital and analog video. This standard uses TMDS (Transition Minimize d Differential Signal) from
Silicon Image and D DC (Display Data Channel) from VESA (Video Electronics Standards Association).
DVI can be s ingle or dual link.
