A.4 BPM (Bridge Point-to-Multipoint) Operation
The Advanced VSAT BPM feature functions as a Learning Ethernet Switch when the “Working
Mode” is set to BPM. This makes the Advanced VSAT equipment appear as a “Sky Ethernet
Switch” and allows for a greatly simplified network deployment.
I
n BPM Mode, all L2/L3/L4 protocols such as VLAN, MPLS, IPv6, OSPF, and BGP will flow through
the network as they would through an off‐the‐shelf Ethernet Switch.
T
he Advanced VSAT System, running in BPM Mode, supports Flat Networks, Flat Networks with
Routers, and VLAN Trunking network topologies.
BPM operation is not available with the ODM-840 Remote Router.
