“D” (drive gear):
The shift lever is set in this position when the
vehicle is moving forward, and the transmission
will automatically shift to a upper or lower gear
according to engine speeds and vehicle speeds.
Starting and stop of vehicle
Starting
1. Set the shift lever to “P” or N” before starting
the engine;
2. Depress the brake pedal, press the unlocking
button in the front of the shift lever, set the shift
lever to “D” at the same time, release the parking
brake, then release the brake pedal, and slowly
depress the accelerator pedal to make the
vehicle start to move forward.
Stopping
1. For parking, depress the brake pedal;
2. After stopping the vehicle completely, apply
the parking brake;
3. Set the shift lever to “P”, and shut down the
engine.
WARNING
Always apply the parking brake while the
vehicle starts, regardless of the position of
shift lever. Otherwise, the vehicle may move
or roll over unexpectedly, resulting in serious
personal injury or property damage.
CAUTION
When the vehicle is just started, do not
set the shift lever to the “D” position while
depressing the brake pedal to keep the
vehicle stationary for a long time. When
the vehicle will be idled for a long time,
set the shift lever to “P” or “N”.
The shift lever can be set to “P” only after
the vehicle is stopped completely by
depressing the brake pedal.
Engagement of reverse gear
1. Stop the vehicle completely;
2. Depress the brake pedal, press the unlocking
button in the front of the shift lever, push the shift
lever forward to set the shift lever to R”, and
release the EPB;
3. After setting to “R”, slowly release the brake
pedal and slowly depress the accelerator pedal,
so the vehicle will travel with reverse gear. At
this time:
The reversing lamp comes on.
The reverse camera system* or AVM* are
activated automatically, and the reversing
images are displayed on the MP5 display.
Reversing radars are activated. When they
are approaching obstacles, audible alarms
with different frequencies will occur (refer to
Reversing radar on page ).
CAUTION
The brake pedal must be depressed during
setting to R. Otherwise, the vehicle will not
reverse even if the reverse gear is engaged,
and the indicator lamp R” in the instrument
cluster will always flash.
