Battery recharge circuit
The recharge system is provided with a three phase alternator with permanent flywheel.
The alternator is directly connected to the voltage regulator.
This, in its turn, is connected directly to the ground and the battery positive passing through the 40A
protective fuse.
The three-phase generator provides good recharge power and at low revs a good compromise is ach-
ieved between generated power and idle stability.
Stator check
Stator winding check-up
WARNING
THE CHECK-UP CAN BE MADE WITH THE STATOR PROPERLY INSTALLED.
1) Remove the right central chassis cover.
2) Disconnect the connector between stator and
regulator with the three yellow cables as shown in
the photograph.
3) Working on the stator connector pin, measure
the resistance between each of the yellow termi-
nals and the other two.
Electric characteristic
Resistance:
0.2 - 1 Ω
4) Check that there is insulation between the each yellow cable and the ground.
5) If values are incorrect, replace the stator.
Voltage regulator check
With a perfectly charged battery and after remov-
ing the fuses for lights (No. 7 and 10), measure the
voltage at the battery poles with the engine running
at 5000 rpm.
The voltage should not exceed 14.7 Volt.
In case higher voltages are detected, replace the
regulator.
In case of voltage values lower than 14 Volt, check
the stator and the corresponding cable harness.
