4.3.1 Quick Reference SOP — Survey Method
1 If an Analyze (GC/MS) method is going to be run after Survey, verify that the
appropriate configuration (i.e., concentrator) is installed and the proper Analyze
method is displayed on the screen.
2 If powering on HAPSITE ER or exiting Extended Standby, the HAPSITE will
automatically begin preparing Survey.
2a If needed, touch PREPARE on the touch screen.
2b Alternately, using the arrow keys, highlight PREPARE. Push OK SEL.
3 When prompted by the SYSTEM IS READY message, touch RUN SURVEY or
push SURVEY RUN.
4 Monitor background for one minute.
5 Hold the probe over the sample.
6 Move the probe away from the sample when the TIC begins to increase and a
peak begins to form.
If the TIC does not increase after a full minute of sampling, move the probe
away from the sample.
7 To confirm data with an Analyze (GC/MS) run, touch RUN ANALYZE or press
ANALYZE RUN.
8 If an Analyze method is not desired, touch STOP or push SURVEY RUN.
9 A METHOD FINISHED message will be displayed when the method has
ended.
