10-SpeedManualTransmission(standard):Thegearshift
levermechanicallyengagesanddisengagesveforwardgears
andonereversegearinthetransmissionfrontsection.The
rangeleverontheRoadrangerValveallowstheoperatorto
controlanairshiftedauxiliarysectiontoprovideaLOrangeand
HIrange.
TheveforwardgearshiftpositionsselectedinLOrangeare
usedagaininHIrangetoprovidethe10progressiveforward
gearratios.Oncethehighestshiftleverposition(5thgear)is
obtainedinLOrange,theoperatorpreselectstherangeshift
leverforHIrange.Therangeshiftoccursautomaticallyas
theshiftleverismovedfrom5thgearpositiontothe6thgear
position.
1.Whenoperatingoff-highway,orunderadverse
conditions,alwaysusethelowestgearwhenstartingto
movethevehicle.
2.Forallnormalconditions,usethehighestgearthatis
stilllowenoughtostartthevehiclemovingwithengine
idling,andwithoutslippingtheclutchexcessively.
3.Usetheclutchbraketostopgearrotationwhenshifting
intolow(or1st)orreversewhenthevehicleisstationary.
Theclutchbrakeisactuatedbydepressingtheclutch
pedalallthewaytotheoor.
4.Donotmakerangeshiftswiththevehiclemovingin
reversegear.
5.Neverattempttomovetherangepreselectionleverwith
thegearshiftleverinNeutralwhilethevehicleismoving.
Preselectionwiththerangepreselectionlevermustbe
madepriortomovingtheshiftleveroutofgearinto
Neutral.
6.Donotshiftfromhighrangetolowrangeathighvehicle
speeds.
