DP-3000
A. Description
1. The DP-3000 is a piston pump or positive displacement pump dispenses fluid
by displacing a volume of fluid in a closed system chamber.
2. An electric motor turns two gears, which drive a lead screw attached to a
piston into the chamber.
3. The piston pump gives two advantages over other families of pumps:
Higher available flowrates
- Flowrates of 1000 mg/s can be achieved.
4. Greater accuracy in dispensed amount (greater repeatability).
Repeatability of better than 1% for a 30 mg shot size is achievable.
Generally repeatability improves with larger shot sizes and standard cavity
fill shot sizes range from 100 mg to about 500 mg per part.
5. The piston pump is the most commonly used valve for cavity fill dispensing.
The gears on top can be arranged in three ratios, 26:54, 54:26, and 40:40.
Note the gears add up to 80 teeth.
B. Operation
1. Fluidmove commands signal the pneumatic module to supply air pressure to
the actuator, forcing the stopcock to open and close.
2. The DP-3000 dispenses material at a rate dependent upon the motor speed
setting, the model, and the gear configuration.
3. The piston is motor-driven, advancing at a controlled, constant volumetric
rate.
4. The amount of fluid dispensed is controlled by setting the valve-on time
within the FmNT software.
