Board Sensors
A. Board Sensors
1. Board sensors are optic sensors located along the length of the conveyor
rails.
2. They detect the presence of a board or part and report the detection to the
Conveyor Controller.
3. Depending upon system configuration, your dispenser may have as many as
three board sensors.
Each zone, the pre-dispense, dispense, and post-dispense zone, can have
its own sensor.
Your system will have as many sensors as it does zones.
4. There are two types of board sensors available on the X-1000 Dispensing
Systems, upward facing sensors and downward facing sensors.
B. Upward Facing Sensors
1. The upward facing sensors report the presence of a board when the board
passes over the optic sensor.
2. The optic sensor and sensitivity controls are both located below and between
the conveyor rails.
C. Downward Facing Sensors
1. The downward facing sensors report the presence of a board when the board
passes underneath the optic sensor.
2. The optic sensor is mounted along the top edge of the front conveyor rail.
D. Sensitivity Adjustments
1. Sensitivity adjustments for the sensors are made on the Fiber Optic
Amplifiers located under the dispensing area front plate.
2. You should adjust Board Sensor sensitivity after initial installation and if the
sensors are failing to sense the presence of a workpiece.
3. The procedure for adjusting Board Sensors in shown in Exercise Sheet 2-15-1
on page 2-137.
