Startup/Shutdown Procedures (Continued)
E. Lock Out/Tag Out AC Power and Pneumatic Pressure
1. Lock out and tag out electrical power and pneumatic pressure when
performing service or maintenance work on the dispensing system. Failure to
do so could cause serious injury to the user and/or serious damage to the
dispensing system.
2. The AC power and pneumatic pressure should be locked out and tagged out
as follows:
Shut down the dispensing system as specified in “Service Shutdown” in
this section.
Lock a keyed padlock or other locking device to the locking flange of the
Main Power Inlet.
- The shackle of the locking device must have a diameter that will
completely fill the hole of the locking flange and prevent switching of
the Circuit Breaker. This ensures the dispensing system cannot be
operated until the locking device is removed.
Usually, only the technician who placed the lock on the dispensing
system is authorized to remove it at the completion of the task. If
multiple personnel are performing work on a dispensing system, a
multiple lock out device should be used to ensure that power
cannot be turned on until all personnel have completed their
tasks.
Attach prominent warning tags to the lock on the Main Power Inlet and
Main Air Inlet.
- This warning tag documents the name of the authorized technician
taking the equipment out of operation, the date, 24-hour contact
phone numbers, and other facility-required information. It is a warning
to others that the equipment cannot be put back into operation until
the authorized technician has removed the tag and the lock.
