NOTE: The reverse idler shaft is a non-serviceable
item and should not be pressed out of the housing.
8. Remove the input shaft seal and clutch intermediate
sha
ft seal using a seal puller or punch.
9. Remove the (2) screws that attach the gear position
se
nsor to the shift housing. Inspect the O-ring, switch
poles and contact pins for wear or damage. Replace
parts as required.
10. Remove the spacer, contact pins, springs, drum gear
a
nd washer from the shift housing. Replace any worn
or damaged components.
11. Remove the outer detent screw, spring and ball from
th
e shift housing.
NOTE: DO NOT remove the detent sleeve assembly
before removing the outer det
ent screw. Removing
the detent sleeve first will allow the detent ball and
spring to fall into the shift housing.
