Chapter 5 Useful Functions

Extending the Reserve Period
[Reservation]
■ The reserve period does not start count-
ing during the following operations.
• While an operation (master making, printing pro-
cess, etc.) is in progress on this machine.
• While any key or button of the control panel is being
operated.
• While a setting screen is displayed.
• While an error or a warning screen is displayed.
• Up to 3 minutes after you switch to master making
mode.
■ The following functions are not performed
during the extended period of the reserve
period.
• [Auto Sleep] (A 121), [Auto Power-OFF] (A 121):
These functions are performed based on the time
measured from the end of the period that is set in
[Reservation].
• [Power-OFF Schedule] (A 121):
This function is not performed until the set time on
the next day.

tions] tab screen.
Preventing Blurring of Ink
[Idling Action]
This function is useful when this machine is con-
nected to a computer.
During the printing operation on this machine,
another person may send a print instruction for the
original data from a computer.
Even if this machine has been left untouched after
the operation stops, master making of the received
original data does not start until a certain amount of
time has elapsed. This certain amount of time is
referred to as a “Reserve Period”.
When the reserve period has elapsed, another
master making of the original data starts. As a
result, the master that is being used is discarded.
The factory default of the reserve period is 15 sec-
onds. You can extend this period in the [Admin.]
screen up to 60 seconds.
When you want to continue the printing operation
with the master that you are currently using, turn on
[Reservation]. You can extend the reserve period up
to 30 minutes.
BYou can change the reserve period in
[Reserve Period] (A 121) under [Admin.].
BYou can change the extended time when
[Reservation] is turned on in [Ex. Reserve
Period] (A 121) under [Admin.].
BIf you want to print original data dur-
ing the [Reserve Period], touch
[Pause] (A 40) in the [Basic] tab
screen.
When this machine has not been used for a long
time or after the print drum (cylinder) has been
replaced, several sheets of printing may be faded at
the beginning of printing. When you turn on [Idling
Action], the operation to ensure the ink usability and
stability is performed during master making.
As this function enables clear printing from the
beginning, you can save paper.
B[Idling Action] is a function that is per-
formed during master making. If you
perform the printing process only,
[Idling Action] is not performed.
BWhen [Idling Action] is performed, the
time required for master making
becomes longer.
BYou can set [Idling Action] to be performed
automatically during the next master mak-
ing if the print drum (cylinder) has not been
used for a long time. You can change the
setting in [Auto Idling] (A 122) under
[Admin.].
