Click on “Test the connection”. The connection test runs all the stages involved in connecting to an
IAP, and gives the causes and related solutions to solve the problem if the connection fails. The fol-
lowing are tested in succession:
- test of the initial state: the system checks that the active IAP is in “Enabled” mode, and that connec-
tion is possible in accordance with the configured time ranges.
- Call to the IAP's telephone number, or ping to the DSL modem or router.
- Authentication verification: the system tests the login and password authentication in accordance
with the protocol supported by the IAP (PAP/CHAP). This verification is tested during a connection
using ISDN or DSL modem.
- Negotiation of IP addresses: the system sends back the IP addresses of Alcatel OmniPCX Office,
and of the router on the IAP's premises. This negotiation is tested during a connection using ISDN
or DSL modem.
- Testing the remote address by pinging the IAP's router. This test is used to verify that the router is
working properly.
- Verification of the DNS configuration: this test is used to verify that the DNS configuration entered
in the system is correct, and, if not, it is used to dynamically locate the DNS servers on the IAP's
