SECURITYE-SERVER : INTERNET APPLICATIONS
Ed. 04 3/10Réf. 3EH 21000 BSAA
- A computer on the local network hosts a service for clients on the Internet (i.e. acts as a web server).
The way NAT works rules out this kind of topology. However, thanks to OmniPCX Office's port
forwarding functionality, a mail server and/or a VPN server can be hosted on the local network (by
forwarding the SMTP and/or PPTP ports respectively). This functionality is activated automatically
whenever one of these servers is declared (see the sections on e-mail and VPNs). With the current
version of OmniPCX Office it is not, however, possible to host a web server on the LAN that is ac-
cessible from the Internet.
