ELECTRONIC MESSAGINGE-SERVER : INTERNET APPLICATIONS
Ed. 04 7/18Réf. 3EH 21000 BSAA
Routing to external users
When Alcatel OmniPCX Office is the messaging server, it is possible to define uses as “remote wor-
kers”. These users have a personal mail box stored with the IAP, but they do not have a local mail box
on Alcatel OmniPCX Office.
The mail intended for them is routed as follows:
- mail from the company
Alcatel OmniPCX Office recognises the address and routes the message to the IAP. The mail is sto-
red in the remote user's personal mail box in the IAP, and is retrieved by the remote worker when
he logs onto the IAP server.
- Mail from the Internet
The mail is stored in the remote user's personal mail box in the IAP, and is retrieved by the remote
worker when he logs onto the IAP. This mail is not retrieved by Alcatel OmniPCX Office.
This service is available only in the case of a POP3 subscription:
CONFIGURATION
Configuration needs two stages:
- configuration of Alcatel OmniPCX Office
- configuration of client terminals
Prerequisites
The information needed to install the messaging server varies accordance to the configuration to be
selected. Generally speaking, the parameters to know in relation to the IAP are as follows:
- Name of the POP3 server: server that hosts the mail boxes (POP3 accounts).
- Name of the SMTP server: server tasked with sending mail.
- Passwords of the POP3 accounts: each mail box (POP3 account) created in the IAP is password
protected. Alcatel OmniPCX Office uses this password to download the mail before distributing it
to users.
- Support for ETRN commands functionality supported by the IAP or not.
- Domaine names: these domain names can be private (used internally only) or public (filed and re-
gistered with the authorities that manage the Internet domain names).
