SECTION 00 - GENERAL INFORMATION - CHAPTER 1
00-17
HYDRAULIC CYLINDERS
Release all the pressure from the hydraulic lines
before making any repairs. Replace or repair
damaged hoses immediately.
WARNING
When checking for oil leaks use a piece of
cardboard; DO NOT use your hand:
Escaping fluid under pressure can penetrate the
skin causing serious injury.
Avoid the hazard by relieving pressure before
disconnecting hydraulic of other lines.
Tighten all line connections before applying
pressure.
Check for leaks with a piece of cardboard.
Protect hands and body from high-pressure
fluids.
If an accident occurs, see a doctor immediately.
Any fluid injected into the skin must be surgically
removed within a few hours or gangrene may
result. Doctors unfamiliar with this type of injury
should reference a knowledgeable medical
source.
CONNECTING HYDRAULIC HOSES TO THE
TRACTOR
1. Be sure the hydraulic couplers on the hoses
match the tractor couplings. If not install the
correct couplers.
WARNING
If hose ends must be changed, be sure to bleed
off any residual pressure slowly. Failure to
comply could result in death or serious injury.
2. Attach both swing cylinder hoses to the remote
outlets of one tractor control valve.
NOTE: If this valve is adjustable, set it for slow
hydraulic flow.
3. Attach the single lift cylinder hose to a remote
outlet from the second control valve. Connect the
hosesothemachinewillraisewhenthehydraulic
valve is pulled back in the opposite direction of
the float position.
NOTE: Check the tractor operators manual for
instructions on which outlet should be used for single
acting cylinders.
IMPORTANT: Tractor hydraulic relief valve pressure
must not exceed 193 bar (2800 PSI), or the machine
may be damaged. It will require a minimum of 104 bar
(1500 PSI) to operate the lift cylinders.
4. Attach the wire harness connector for the trailing
lights to the tractor lights connector. The light wire
harness uses a 7 pin trailer connector which
conforms to SAE J560.
5. Disengage the tongue swing lock, maneuver the
tractor through both hard left and right turns with
unit in both transport and field operating
positions, header both up and down. Check to be
sure the hoses do not get pinched or hung up on
frame components. Secure excess hose using
the rubber strap so it is protected.
WARNING
Before swinging the tongue, be sure the machine
will clear any obstructions, and bystanders are
clear of the machine. Air in the system or high
hydraulic flow rate can cause erratic operation.
Failure to comply could result in death or serious
injury.
