3. Slide the driveline guard off of the drive shaft. It
may be necessary to tap the guard lightly with a
rubber mallet to unseat the guard bushings from
the shaft, or from the center housing, 1, on the
80° CV joint shielding.

Driveline Guards -- Inspection
The driveline guards, 1, should be inspected for any
signs of physical damage such as dents or bends. If
any damage is found, the guards should be replaced.
Inspect the driveline guards bushings, 2; replace the
bushings if they are worn enough to allow guard
movement when mounted on the shaft.
