3. Pull the complete piston rod assembly out of the
barrel.
NOTE: The O-rings and seals should be replaced.
4. Capture the piston rod using a bar through the
clevis, and remove the rod nut, 1. Slide the
piston, 2, cylinder head, 3, and nut, 4, off of the
piston rod.

Inspection
1. Examine the parts for wear or nicks. Remove any
burrs inside the cylinder.
2. Remove all O-rings and seals, carefully noting
the lip position of the seals.
Assembly
1. Lubricate all O-rings, seals, and sliding surfaces
before assembly.
2. Slide the nut, 1, and a new retaining ring over the
piston rod.
3. Install a new rod seal inside cylinder head, 2.
Drive a new wiper seal, 3, into the outer face of
the cylinder head. Install a back-up washer, 4,
and O-ring, 5, in the outer groove of the cylinder
head, with the back-up washer towards the outer
face. Slide the cylinder head assembly over the
piston rod.

4. Capture the piston rod using a bar through the
clevis. Install piston, 2, and locknut, 1. Torque the
locknut to 353 Nám (260 ft-lb).
5. Install a new seal, 3, onto the piston.
