CONDITIONER ROLL GEARBOX -
DISASSEMBLY
1. Clean off gearbox prior to disassembly.
2. Place gearbox on a large flat surface with the
cover side upwards. Remove sixteen cap screws
and cupped lock washers, and pry off cover. Note
the positions of the supports, 1, before removing
the cover.

3. Remove the cotter pins, castellated nuts, 1, and
hardened washers from the shafts.
4. Lift the gears, 2, off of the shafts.
5. Thread the nuts back on to the ends of the shaft
to protect the threads. Position the gearbox
housing in a press, and push the gearbox shafts
out of the bearing cones.
6. Remove the shaft seals and bearing cups from
the gearbox case.

7. Use a split bearing puller to capture the bearing
cones, 1, on the shafts, and press the shafts out
of the bearing cones.
8. Inspect the bearing cups and cones for damage.
Inspect seal surfaces on shafts for damage;
repair any nicks or scratches using crocus cloth.
Replace the shaft if damage cannot be polished
out. Inspect splines on shaft for evidence of wear
or damage; replace if necessary.
