Visually check the fan for cracks, loose rivets, and bent
or loose blades. Check the fan to make sure it is securely
mounted. Tighten the capscrews if necessary. Replace
damaged fans.
Refer to vehicle manufacturer’s specifications for fan
capscrew torque.
Fan Shroud Inspection (1-19)
Inspect the fan shroud for the correct fan clearance.
Refer to the vehicle manufacturer’s specifications.
Visually inspect the shroud for cracks, air leaks, or dam-
age. Replace if necessary. Refer to the manufacturer’s
instructions.
Fan Spacer and Pulley Inspection
(1-20)
Visually inspect the fan spacer and pulley (if used) for
cracks or damage. Replace if necessary.
Fan Belts (1-21)
Removal
Loosen the capscrews which secure the fan hub shaft to
the bracket.
NOTE: Both two capscrew and four capscrew design are
available.
