Operate the engine until the water temperature reaches
82°C [180°F]. Inspect the exterior of the engine for leak-
ing gaskets, seals, o-rings, pipe plugs, or fittings.
NOTE: Before removing and replacing any gaskets, check
the capscrews to make sure they are tightened to the correct
torque values. Refer to Section 10 for capscrew torque
specifications.
Crankcase Breather (2-05)
Removal
Loosen the hose clamp at the breather vent tube.
Remove the tube support bracket capscrew and the
bracket.
Remove the tube and the hose from the engine.
Disassemble the breather tube, vapor barrier and rubber
gasket.
Cleaning and Inspection
Use solvent to clean the inside of the crankcase breather
tube, and dry with compressed air.
Use air pressure to blow through the vent tube.
Replace the vent tube if it is clogged, or dented.
