Tighten the idler pulley shaft lock nut.
Torque Value: 68 N•m [50 ft-lb]
Loosen the adjusting screw 1/2-turn to prevent breakage.
Measure the belt tension again. Adjust if necessary.
Water Pump Idler Pulley (1-26)
Remove
Remove the water pump drive belt. Refer to Procedure
1-25.
Remove the lock nut and the washer from the back of the
idler pulley shaft.
Remove the adjusting screw.
Remove the idler pulley from the water pump body.
Inspection
Visually inspect the idler pulley assembly for the follow-
ing:
• Freedom of rotation.
• Cracked, chipped, or broken pulley grooves.
• Grease leakage.
Repair or replace the idler pulley assembly if it does not
rotate freely or if damage is found.
