With the feeler gauge in the same location, gently push
the compressor wheel away from the compressor hous-
ing and feeler gauge.
Measure and record the clearance.
Subtract the smaller clearance from the larger clearance.
This is the radial bearing clearance.

Replace the turbocharger if the radial bearing clearance
does not meet the specifications. Refer to Procedure
3-08.
Axial Clearance - Checking
Measure the axial clearance (end to end), using dial depth
gauge, Part No. ST-537.
Push the rotor assembly away from the gauge.
Set the gauge on zero (0).
Push the rotor assembly toward the gauge and record the
clearance.
