Lubricate the o-ring with Lubriplate 105 or equivalent,
and install the shutoff valve in the filter head.
Install the retaining capscrew and washer.
Torque Value: 20 N•m [15 ft-lb]
Turn the valve to the ‘‘ON’’ position.
The valve is in the ‘‘ON’’ position when the valve is in the
vertical position.
Fill the engine with Heavy Duty Coolant. Refer to Pro-
cedure 1-09. Start the engine and check for leaks.
Thermostat Housing (1-30)
Removal
Drain the cooling system. Refer to Procedure 1-07.
NOTE: If the coolant is to be used again, the container must
be free of oil and dirt. Before pouring coolant back into the
engine, it must be tested for SCA concentration. Refer to
Procedure 1-05.
Remove the upper radiator hose from the thermostat
housing and disconnect the air compressor coolant re-
turn line from the thermostat housing.
