Air Compressor Will Not Maintain Adequate Air Pressure - Not Pumping Continuously

Cause Corrections

Air System Leaks

Block vehicle wheels and check for system

air leaks with spring brakes applied and

released. Check for air compressor gasket,

hoses, fittings, etc., leaks. Refer to Procedure

4-02. Check safety pressure valve leaks.

Rating must be 1034 kPa [150 psi]. Check

safety pressure valve location. Move if

located near air compressor outlet. Refer to

the manufacturer’s instructions for other air

system leaks.

Air Governor Malfunctioning or Set

Incorrectly

Check air governor operation. Refer to

Procedure 4-04.

Unloader Valve Malfunction. Air

Compressor Intake or Exhaust Valve

Leaks Air

Check unloader valve operation. Refer to

Procedure 4-03. Inspect intake and

exhaust valve assemblies. Refer to

Procedure 4-06.
