Automatic SIMdetection
Newer cellular modules in TransPort routers use a SIM-based image switching feature, called
automatic SIMdetection, which allows the module to automatically switch between carrier-approved
firmware. Automatic SIMdetection is currently supported in the following cellular module types:
n Sierra Wireless modules MC7430 and MC7455
n Telit modules LE910-NA1, LE910-EU1, LE910-NA V2, LE910-EU V2, LE910C1-NS, LE910C1-AP
To determine whether your router supports automatic SIMdetection, enter the command modemcc
0 auto_sim ?. The response will display on if automatic SIM detection is supported, or off if not
supported.
When a Transport router equipped with automatic SIMdetection boots, the cellular module checks
the SIM's MCC/MNC or ICCID, and checks the list of cached images for a "best match:"
n If an exact or acceptable match is found, the router uses that image for the carrier firmware
switch.
n If there is no exact or acceptable matching image, the router uses the Generic carrier firmware
image, if available.
Otherwise, if there is no match, and no Generic carrier firmware image is available, no firmware image
switch occurs, and the module continues to use the current configuration.
You can disable automatic SIMdetection if desired.
Disable automatic SIM detection
If you want to switch carriers by using the carrier command (see Switch the cellular carrier firmware),
you need to first disable automatic SIMdetection.
Command line
To disable automatic SIMdetection, use the modemcc 0 auto_sim off command:
modemcc 0 aut o_si m of f
