Configure a WAN for IPv6
Configuring a WANto support IPv6 addressing involves these settings:
n Enabling learning of prefixes, routes, and DNS addresses from an upstream router. The device
supports up to 2 upstream routers, on a first-come, first-served basis.
n Enabling the DHCPv6 client on the WAN interface. If enabled, the device attempts to learn IPv6
addresses, delegated prefixes, and DNS server addresses from an upstream router.

1. Go to Configuration - Network - Interfaces - IPv6 >IPv6 WAN.
2. Enable IPv6 for the Ethernet interface: in the list of Ethernet interfaces, select the interface,
the IPv6 WAN instance, and click Add.
3. Click IPv6 WAN.
4. Select the IPv6 WANinstance associated with the Ethernet interface and set parameters for
the instance:
n Select Enable router learning on this interface to enable learning of prefixes, routes
and DNS addresses from an upstream router.
n Select Enable DHCPv6 client on this interface to enable the DHCPv6 client on the
WAN interface.
5. Click Apply.

1. Set the operating mode of the Ethernet interface to wan.

2. Assign the desired IPv6 WANinstance to the Ethernet interface.

3. Enable learning of prefixes, routes and DNS addresses from an upstream router.
