Back up and restore configuration settings
There are several mechanisms available to backup device configurations, and later restore them on
your TransPort router. It is important to understand the Digi TransPort file system and which files
should be backed up.
Configuration files associated with your TransPort router
The TransPort router file system includes several configuration files:
File name Purpose and contents
config.da0 Primary configuration file. This is where all feature configuration settings are written
when a configuration is saved.
You can also use the file named config.da1 to create and save an alternate
configuration.
pwds.da0 Obfuscated passwords file.
fw.txt Firewall rules.
sregs.dat Serial port configuration settings, if the serial settings were changed from their
defaults.
x3prof X.25 PAD profile. Rarely used.
logcodes.dif Event handler logcodes updates; may or may not be present.
For more information on these and other TransPort configuration and data files, see TransPort file
system.
Methods for saving configuration files
You can save these files in several ways:
n From the web interface: Go to Administration > Backup/Restore. All selected files are stored
in Zip format for easy storage and restoration to this same or different unit.
n FTP the files to a file using an FTP client.
n Save the files from the web interface: Go to Administration > File Management > FLASH
directory.
n Copy the files to a USB storage device (U:)
n Use a remote management platform such as Digi Remote Manager, which can save
configurations, restore them, and do other system maintenance on scheduled basis.
