EXHAUST HOUSING,
40 – 65 HP
The exhaust ho using cont ains no se rviceable
internal p arts. The exhaust wate r valve a nd the
exhaust relief muffler can both be serviced without
removing the exhaust housing.
Exhaust Housing Removal
Before removing the exhaust housing:
• Remove th e gearcase . Re fer to Ge arcase
GEARCASE REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION
on p. 296.
• Remove th e powerhea d. Refer to Powerhe ad
POWERHEAD REMOVAL on p. 190.
Remove the three lower mount cover screws.
Separate lower mount covers from swivel bracket.
Check condition o f the lower front mount a nd two
lower side mounts.
Remove the three upper mount to exhaust hous-
ing screws. Be sure t o su pport exhaust ho using
so it does not fall.
Remove the exhaust housing.
