Propeller Shaft Bearing Housing
Removal
Remove the t wo screws, washers, and ret ainers
holding the propeller shaft bearing housing.
Remove wedge, screw, and washer (“O” Type).
Remove the propeller shaft bearing h ousing from
the gearcase using the following:
• Puller body, screw, and hand le from Universal
Puller Set, P/N 378103.
• Two 5/16-18 x 1 1 in. (2 79 mm) threa ded rods,
two large 5/1 6 in. I. D. f lat washers, a nd two
5/16-18 nuts (obtain locally).
Assemble components and pull the bearing hous-
ing from the gearcase.
Remove the thrust washer, thrust bearing, and
reverse gear from gearcase.
Pinion Gear and Driveshaft
Removal
Adjust the sh ift rod to move the clutch dog as far
forward as possible. This will help ease removal of
the pinion nut.
Use Driveshaft Holding Socket, P/N 311875, Pin-
ion Nut Holde r, P/N 334455, and W rench
Retainer, P/N 341438 to loo sen and remove th e
pinion nut from the b ottom of the driveshaft. Pad
handle of holder to prevent damage to gearcase.
