Input Selection & Level Control Assembly Descriptions
A9 Input Attenuator A
There are two different A9 Input Attenuator A assemblies used in the N9038A.
One is used in instruments with Option 503, 508, and 526 and the other with
Option 544.
Option 503, 508, and 526
This assembly has two 2 dB attenuator sections, a DC block, and a second
RF input port.
With the DC block switched in (AC coupled mode), the low end minimum
frequency range increases from 20 Hz to 10 MHz due to capacitive effects.
Option 544
This assembly has a total 10 dB of attenuation. There are two 2 dB
attenuator sections, and a 6 dB attenuator section. It also has a second RF
input port.
Unlike the Option 503, 508, and 526 A9 Input Attenuator A, this does not
have a switchable DC block - it is always DC coupled. Because of this the
low end minimum frequency range is always 20 Hz.
Control for this assembly comes from the A15 Front End Controller assembly.
A10 Input Attenuator B
There are two different A10 Input Attenuator B assemblies used in the N9038A.
One is used in instruments with Option 503, 508, and 526 and the other with
Option 544.
Option 503, 508, and 526
This assembly has a total of 66 dB of attenuation. There is a 30 dB, 20 dB,
6 dB, and 10 dB section in the A10 assembly, in that order.
Option 544
This assembly has a total 60 dB of attenuation. There is a 20 dB, 30 dB, and
10 dB section in the A10 assembly, in that order.
Control for this assembly comes from the A15 Front End Controller assembly.
Total input attenuation of the A9 and A10 assemblies combined is 70 dB in
2 dB steps.
