A15 Front End Control Assembly Troubleshooting
A9 Input Attenuator A Control - (Option 503, 508, & 526 only)
A problem with the A9 Input Attenuator A could be caused by either a failure of
the attenuator itself, the control logic sent to it, or damage to the cable
between the two. This section will verify the functionality of the control logic
coming from the A15 Front End Control assembly. If after verifying that the
control logic in working properly refer to Chapter 5, “RF Preselector Section.”
for further troubleshooting information on the A9 Input Attenuator A itself.
This section will verify the control signals from the A15 Front End Control
assembly to the A9 Input Attenuator A. As can be seen in Figure 8-4 there are
four different controls for the A9 Input Attenuator A:
1. RF Input / Calibrator Select
2. AC / DC Coupling Select
3. 2 dB Select A
4. 2 dB Select B
The status of these controls is displayed on the Front End Control Test board
assembly with the use of six different LEDs, plus one for the status of the +25V
power supply, as can be seen in Figure 8-5.
