Front End Control
A15 Front End Control Description
A15 Front End Control Description
As of serial prefix MY/SG5322 all instruments are originally equipped with the
Enhanced Front End Control assembly, which includes routing of the A13 IF
output.
A15 Front End Control Purpose
The Front End Control assembly provides the necessary switch logic and bias
voltages to many of the major RF assemblies in the instrument. These signals
are routed from the A15 Front End Control assembly to the RF assemblies via
ribbon cables and wiring harnesses.
The Front End Control assembly also has the ability to route the A13 IF output
signal to either the A2 Analog IF assembly or the A3 Digital IF assembly (A25
Wideband Analog IF if Option B85 is installed). It also provides the switching of
the IF to the rear panel AUX IF OUT connector. (Option CR3 only)
A15 Front End Control Assembly Description
The following RF assemblies are controlled by the A15 Front End Control
assembly:
— A9 Input Attenuator A
— A10 Input Attenuator B
— A11 RF Switch / High Band Preamp
— A12 YTF Preselector
— A13 RF Front End Assembly
The A15 Front End Control assembly also contains a Field Programmable Gate
Array (FPGA) chip that is programmed from an onboard PROM chip when the
instrument is powered on. This code is updated if necessary when the
instrument software is updated.
