RF Preselector Section
RF Preselector Section Purpose
A22 Radiated Filter Assembly
The A22 Radiated Filter assembly provides the preselector filters that are
required in the frequency range of 30 MHz to 3.6 GHz.
There are a total of eight different signal paths through the A22 Radiated Filter
assembly which are broken up into two main sections. These two sections are
the Tunable Filters and the Fixed Filters.
Tunable Filters
The 30 MHz to 2 GHz frequency range of the tunable filters is broken up
into 6 different bands. They are:
— Band 0 - 30 MHz to 70 MHz
— Band 1 - 70 MHz to 150 MHz
— Band 2 - 150 MHz to 300 MHz
— Band 3 - 300 MHz to 600 MHz
— Band 4 - 600 MHz to 1000 MHz
— Band 5 - 1 GHz to 2 GHz
Bands 0 through 3 each have a lowpass prefilter to reject image signals that
are above their frequency range.
All of the tunable filters are adjusted at the factory and can be readjusted in
the field by use of the Service Menu. For detailed information on the Service
Menu see Chapter 16, “Service and Diagnostics Menus”.
The outputs of the six different tunable filter paths are separated into 2
different signal paths. Each of these two signal paths has its own limiter and
amplifier.
Fixed Filters
The fixed filter section covers a frequency range of 2 GHz to 3.6 GHz and
consists of two different signal paths. They are:
— Band 6 - 2 GHz to 3.6 GHz
— Through Path - 30 MHz to 3.6 GHz
The Band 6 filter path consists of a fixed highpass filter.
The through path has no filtering and is only used during the instrument
alignment and calibration.
There is a limiter and amplifier at the output of the fixed filter path section.
