A15 Front End Control Assembly Troubleshooting
A13 RF Front End Assembly Control -
(Option 503, 508, & 526 only)
A problem with the A13 RF Front End assembly could be caused by either a
failure of the assembly itself, the control logic sent to it, or damage to the cable
between the two. This section will verify the functionality of the control logic
coming from the A15 Front End Control assembly. If after verifying that the
control logic in working properly refer to Chapter 6, “RF Downconverter
Section.” for further troubleshooting information on the A13 RF Front End
assembly itself.
This section will verify the control signals from the A15 Front End Control
assembly to the A13 RF Front End assembly. There are five controls for the A13
RF Front End assembly:
1. Supply Voltages
2. Serial Communication for Assembly Identification
3. Low Band Preamp Control
4. Frequency Band Selection
5. Amplifier Bias
The status of the control lines for A13 RF Front End assembly can be measured
on the Front End Control Test board assembly, as seen in Figure 8-12.
When being used to verify the control signals to the A13 RF Front End assembly there are many
resistors on the Front End Test board that can get VERY HOT. Be careful not to touch them or
place any combustible objects in contact with them. Also, do not leave the instrument
unattended while powered on with the Front End Test board connected in this manner.
