(3) Remove each 23H-U OLIU circuit pack from the shelf and replace the 0 dB light-
guide buildout (LBO) assembly of the OUT (transmit) connector on each 23H-U
OLIU with a 20 dB buildout assembly per the following table and Figure 6-2 on
page 6-34.

CAUTION:
Do not install optical loopback cables without 20 dB lightguide buildouts as
this will cause damage to the receivers.
(4) Place the OLIU packs [including any function units (FN) OLIUs] into their
respective shelf positions and fully insert them.
NOTE:
Release 3.0 ring software does not support OLIUs in function unit positions.
(5) For Releases 5 and 7 applications with DDM-2000 OC-3 Release 8 Linear (1+1)
extensions, use the set-oc3 command to provision the desired function unit
address to the 1+1 application. For DDM-2000 OC-3 ring releases, leave this
parameter set to the default value(0x1).
(6) Connect the OLIU OUT to the OLIU IN of each OLIU using optical fiber jumper
cables per the following tables and Figure 6-2 on page 6-34, local equipment
test.
NOTE:
21D-U OLIUs in FN slots require multimode fiber jumpers.
