Modem Cabling - Rear Access
Description
The use of a modem allows the DDM-2000 OC-12 Multiplexer to be accessed remotely.
Connection to the modem port does not require the use of a null modem.
Modem cable options are listed in Table 2-4 on page 2-37.
Modem Cabling - Shelf 1
NOTE:
Perform this procedure for shelf 1 which will be directly connected to a modem or
a distribution frame (DF) (if specified in the order).
(1) Obtain a Group 189, 190 or 173 (D.A.) modem cable listed in Table 2-4 on page
2-37.
(2) Connect the cable to connector J60 of shelf 1.
(3) Route the modem cable out of the DDM-2000 OC-12 bay per Figure 2-17 on
page 2-64 to the modem or DF, stacking the cables as shown in Figure 2-2 on
page 2-49 or Figure 2-3 on page 2-50.
(4) Dress and tie the cables in the bay as close to the DDM-2000 OC-12 backplane
as possible without touching any backplane pins.
(5) Connect the modem cable to the modem or distribution frame.
OC-12 Intershelf CIT and Modem Without TBOS Cabling
NOTE:
This procedure should be performed when shelf 1 in the same bay is to connect
directly to a modem or distribution frame. The cable added in this procedure is to
mult modem connections in a bay to shelf 1. In this procedure shelf 1 will be con-
nected to shelf 2, shelf 2 connected to shelf 3.
NOTE:
This procedure is not to be performed for shelves previously multed together
with TBOS intershelf mult cables. The Group 169, 187 or 170 (D.A.) cables con-
tain the mult for the modem as well as TBOS. This procedure is only for those
shelves which are to have the modem multed without having TBOS multed as
well.
